Jack and Her Bean Stock

Saturday, February 1, 2014

Another month has come and gone, another month spent focusing far too keenly on work and not near enough time with friends and family, reading, breathing (mostly involuntary but sometimes I forget), eating (key to survival but again I forget), getting my sweat on, "acting a fool" like most people my age do (just kidding but not really), another pitiful post count and lack of writing... I've been out of the writing game so long that I've seemingly also forgotten how to utilize periods to end sentences. Oh well. Just call me run-on.

I stumbled across this amazingly thought provoking video today that could not have found me in a better moment. Period. I find myself again (or still) craving balance. Period. This video, which visually measures how we spend our time on earth (using Jelly Beans as a metaphor for life), is exactly what I needed to foster a little life re-org.

My beans are not for sale. Not to a stuffy career. Not to stop-and-go city traffic. And definitely not to a boob tube. Period.

"What are you going to do with [your] time? How much of it have you already used up? If you only had half of it, what would you do differently? What about half of that? How much time have you already spent worrying instead of doing something that you love? What if you just had one more day? What are you going to do today?"
With love and 19, 747 jelly beans.
Yes - I calculated it ;)
